This World AIDS Day, our CEO Anne Aslett joined ITN Business’ Robin Ross for their special World AIDS Day program HIV: Towards Zero by 2030 to discuss where we stand and what our key focuses should be in the years ahead to make ending AIDS a reality.
The United Nation’s goal is to end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030, with zero new HIV cases being diagnosed. Although much progress has been made, we still have work to do: approximately three people are newly diagnosed every minute around the world and 9.2 million people living with HIV are not on life-saving treatment.
Anne discusses the Foundation’s role as a grant-making organization, the damaging effects of stigmatization, how The Rocket Fund has turbocharged the Foundation’s mission to provide critical HIV services and support to underserved and marginalized communities, and our collective priorities for ending AIDS as a public health threat by 2030.
“I think it is achievable [to end AIDS by 2030] but it is going to take political will and money.” – Anne Aslett, CEO, Elton John AIDS Foundation
